

The body was prepared at Frank H Flanders' funeral home. There is one grandson, Richard Allen Hampton, and a sister, Mrs Emily Schwartz of Washington, DC. Mr Van Allen was married to Miss Jeannette Belle (sic) of Titusville, who survives him with two children, the son at whose home he died, and a daughter, Jeannette, wife of C C Hampton, also of Titusville. He also engaged in building contracting and was active in this work until about two years ago when he had to retire on account of the heart condition.

As a young man he became a plasterer and was an expert in this line of work. He came to Titusville at the age of four years and had lived here ever since. The deceased was son of the late Peter and Anna O'Shea Van Allen and was born in Oil City, August 12, 1878. While Mr Van Allen had been able to be up and around the house until a few days ago, even attending the theatre about two weeks ago, for more than a year he had been steadily failing and his death was not unexpected. "E J Van Allen Died Yesterday - Well Known Contractor Had Suffered from Heart Trouble Two Years - Edward J Van Allen, aged 62, well known building contractor in Titusville for many years, died at 11 am yesterday at the home of his son, Edward J Van Allen, Jr, 624 West Walnut street, following illness of over two years from a heart ailment and complications.
